I began doing yoga in community learning classes in Salina, Kansas in early 2000 and loved it so much I studied with Joseph and Lillian Le Page from Integrated Yoga Therapy and received my 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher designation in 2004. I also completed level II training with the Shambhava School of Yoga at Shoshoni Yoga Retreat Center. I taught in community learning classes and eventually co-owned Prairie Lotus Yoga in Salina, Kansas with my friend and business partner, Kate Williams.

Moving from Kansas to South Carolina my schedule did not allow me to teach and as I moved to a new phase in life I wanted to go back to what I loved – Yoga!

I continued my yoga training with Inner Peace Yoga Therapy and received my 300 hour certificate in April 2016 and was able to learn from many teachers in the yoga therapy arena including the following:

Amy Weintraub, Yoga for Anxiety and Depression

Dr. Mark Halpern, Ayurveda

Maria Mendola, Functional Yoga Therapy

Nischala Joy Devi, Yoga of the Heart

Laura Kupperman, Yoga for Cancer Survivors

Neil Pearson, Yoga for Pain Management

Antonion Sausys, Yoga for Grief

As part of my studies with Inner Peace I was blessed to be able to continue studies with Nischala Joy Devi and completed her 100 hour Yoga of the Heart Program for Cardiac and Cancer Patients. Nischala worked with Dr Dean Ornish in his research for reversing cardiac disease and developed the stress management portion of his program. Additionally she developed yoga programs for the Commonweal Cancer Help Program.

I also became interested in the work of Thomas Hannah on reawakening the mind’s control of movement, flexibility and health with somatic yoga and I am a Gentle Somatic Yoga Practitioner – level 3.  I am available to teach Gentle Somatic Yoga workshops to your community and also Gentle Somatic Yoga level 1 and 2 teacher trainings for your studio.  I continue to follow and study with James Knight of Gentle Somatic Yoga.  See more about James on tab for Gentle Somatic Yoga on this website.

Since yoga is so closely aligned with wellness I also studied with the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and received my certificate as a health coach in 2014.

I am a member of Yoga Alliance and also a member of The International Association of Yoga Therapists.

I continue to find the many facets of yoga helpful to find the well being that we all were meant to experience. I invite you to experience the many blessing of yoga!
